Princess Charlotte is the future Princess Royal, but she has to wait a while before receiving the title.

When Prince William takes over the throne, there will be a lot of changes, especially to the Cambridges' titles. For instance, Kate Middleton will be the Queen Consort. Prince George will be the Prince of Wales, while Princess Charlotte will be Princess Royal. However, the 3-year-old royal will not automatically inherit the position because someone else is still holding it.

"The title of Princess Royal is traditionally bestowed on the eldest daughter of the monarch," Duncan Larcombe told Town and Country, referencing to Princess Anne as the current Princess Royal. "It is a title that remains for life, so Princess Charlotte will have to wait at least until the death of the current Princess Royal."

In addition, there is no guarantee that Princess Charlotte will be granted such an honor. Prince William will still have to decide if his daughter will get the title. The waiting part is not new as Princess Anne also waited for over 20 years to receive the honor.

"Princess Anne had to wait until 1987 before her mother the Queen bestowed the title of Princess Royal on her, even though the title had been vacant since 1965," the author of "Prince Harry: The Inside Story," wrote.

Larcombe also warned Princess Charlotte's future boyfriend that being in a relationship with a Princess Royal won't be easy.

"Under ancient British law, any man who sleeps with the Princess Royal before they are married is guilty of high treason—punishable by execution!" Larcombe explained. "Perhaps Princess Charlotte’s future boyfriends had better look out. At the very least, Wills and Kate are likely to wait until after Charlotte marries before giving her the title."

In related news, the Duchess of Cambridge and her only sister love twinning. According to Damien Woolnough, 9Style's editor, this is a great choice considering that they are the most photographed family because "coordinating your look is a great way to preserve the Cambridge family's brand."

Also, Princess Charlotte always wears dresses because this gives her a "clean, traditional look." Princess Anne also wore the same outfit when she was Princess Charlotte's age.
