Princess Diana had a difficult time adjusting to her life as a royal after she married Prince Charles. But things got even worse for the mom of two after she realized that she could never get used to one aspect of her new status.

In the book “The Queen and Di: The Untold Story,” royal author Ingrid Seward said that the Princess of Wales was unable to get used to the constant media and public attention that she received.

Before marrying the heir to the throne, Lady Diana Spencer didn’t make headlines in the papers. But after they started dating, she made headlines multiple times a day.

“No matter how hard she tried; Diana never succeeded in getting rid of that implosive feeling of claustrophobia which pressed on her whenever she was called upon to play the crowds. Almost at the end of her life, she said, ‘I still feel really insecure about going out and meeting people I don’t know… After all these years I’ve never really gotten over it,’” she said.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana wasn’t the only member of the royal family who struggled with speaking in public. Queen Elizabeth also experienced the same troubles even though she’s the head of the monarchy.

Her Majesty was not comfortable in situations wherein she had to talk to people she didn’t really know, but she went on with her royal engagements anyway.

In related news, Princess Diana also made headlines this week after the advice that Prince Philip gave to her was revisited. While speaking on talkRADIO, Seward said that the Duke of Edinburgh once told the Princess of Wales that it’s dangerous to take personally the attention that comes her way as a member of the royal family.

Seward said that Meghan Markle should consider the same advice for her to remember that even though all eyes are on her, it’s only because she’s married to Prince Harry and is a member of the British clan.
