  • What Queen Elizabeth like about Kate Middleton
  • Queen Elizabeth's relationship with Kate and Prince William's children

Queen Elizabeth II loves seeing Kate Middleton.

The monarch and the Duchess of Cambridge are not often seen together. In fact, unlike Meghan Markle, Middleton waited for eight years to score a joint engagement with Her Majesty. The Duchess of Sussex scored one just weeks after she wed Prince Harry when Queen Elizabeth II invited her to join her in Chester.

Despite this, Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton reportedly share a “very easy relationship.” However, it took time before they got really close because both were very shy.

“Both women are actually quite shy so it’s taken time for them to get to this stage, but they have a very easy relationship now they’ve both made the effort,” royal commentator Katie Nicholl told OK! Magazine. “The Queen loves seeing Kate because it's an opportunity to spend time with her and hear how her great grandchildren are doing.”

Middleton also made a conscious effort to make the monarch feel she is involved as much as possible in her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ lives. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to join Queen Elizabeth II in Sandringham for Christmas.

According to Ashley Pearson, Queen Elizabeth II also loves Middleton’s “middle-class values.” Her Majesty likes the fact that she is very close to her family because the royals are like that. In addition, she appreciates Prince William’s wife because Middleton never tried to garner extra attention for herself. There is nothing flashy or showy about the Duchess of Cambridge.

Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II’s close relationship has become more visible in the past years that some even considered them allies. According to Daily Mail’s Bianca London, Middleton no longer needs her husband by her side because the Queen is with her to support her all the way.

Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II have been seen together over the years in various occasions. Middleton was with the Queen in the summer opening of Buckingham Palace in London in 2011. The two royals were also together at Vernon Park during a Diamond Jubilee visit to Nottingham.

Prince William was with them during the outing. Middleton has also joined Queen Elizabeth in a state banquet for the president of China. Middleton also joined the Queen at the NATO reception last week despite Prince William’s absence.
