Wife Pours Boiling Water On Sleeping Husband's Genitals Following Argument, Victim Critical

A man in India suffered severe burns after his wife poured boiling water on his genitals following a heated argument.

The incident took place in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Macherla Rao, and wife, Padmavati, had been reportedly having arguments for a while. On Friday night, the two got into another tiff, and then went to sleep, The Hans India reported.

A few hours later, Padmavati, in a fit of rage, poured boiling water on her husband’s genitals while he was asleep. The man started screaming in pain and, upon hearing his screams, other family members rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was reported to be in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family members filed a police complaint, following which the wife was taken into custody. During interrogation, it was revealed she was Rao’s third wife and that he had left his first two wives as they were unable to conceive. She told the cops Rao has married her with the intention of having children and that they have two children together, Sakshi English reported.

The police said conflicts arose between the couple over the last few months and that they were investigating what provoked the accused to take such a drastic action. They said they were also investigating whether there were any financial reasons or extramarital affairs that led to the attack.

It wasn’t clear if the accused has been charged in connection with the incident. Details regarding her bail plea were also not known.

In a similar case in Indonesia, a man died after his wife poured boiling water on him for secretly marrying their neighbor. The wife found out about the secret marriage and, in a fit of rage, splashed a bucket full of boiling water on her husband while he was fast asleep. Upon hearing the man’s screams, his family members rushed him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to burn injuries six days later. The wife was taken into custody and charged with murder.
