Manchester United’s top target for this summer, Jadon Sancho, will not face disciplinary action after he unveiled a "Justice for George Floyd" T-shirt after scoring against Paderborn last weekend.

Not just Sancho, a few other players also made anti-racism statements during their respective Bundesliga matches.

An unarmed black man, Floyd, died while being restrained by a white Minneapolis police officer on May 25. Several protests have taken place across the world seeking justice for Floyd.

In Dortmund’s game against Paderborn, Sancho’s teammate Achraf Hakimi also wore a "Justice for George Floyd" T-shirt. Schalke's Weston McKennie wore a similar armband during their 0-1 loss to Werder and Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach paid his tribute to Floyd by kneeling after he scored in his side’s 4-1 victory over Union Berlin.

The German Football Association (DFB), in an official statement, has said that no action would be taken against the four players “because of their solidarity and anti-racism statements”.

“The panel also intends to maintain this line in the event of renewed anti-racism campaigns to mark the violent death of George Floyd on the coming match days,” the statement further read, as reported by BBC.

Since FIFA rules suggest players are not allowed to make political statements, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, "For the avoidance of doubt, in a FIFA competition the recent demonstrations of players in Bundesliga matches would deserve applause and not a punishment. We all must say no to racism and any form of discrimination.”

Last month, Bundesliga became the first league to resume after coronavirus shutdown, which had suspended all soccer leagues in March. Sancho’s Dortmund are seven points behind leaders, Bayern Munich, and as per current standings, it looks like Bayern are set to secure their eighth straight Bundesliga title.
