As the U.S. starts to open back up after COVID-19, many are looking forward to participating in one of their favorite past times again --- going to the movies.

Two major films that moviegoers have the option of seeing soon are Disney's live-action remake of "Mulan" and Christopher Nolan's "Tenet," both of which have already gone through at least one postponement due to the pandemic. However, if the number of cases of COVID-19 continues to creep back up, the highly -anticipated projects could face another delay.

"Mulan" was originally scheduled to hit the box office on March 27, however, that was before the pandemic hit the U.S. hard, shutting down major cities and companies. Around that time, Liu Yifei, who was doing press for the film and who is from the Chinese city of Wuhan (where the virus began), was almost speechless when it came to discussing the havoc the outbreak was having.

"It's really heavy for me to even think about it," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm really hoping for a miracle and that this will just be over soon."

Both films, of course, have the option to release their films digitally on-demand to audiences much like others have done amid the pandemic, but for Christopher Nolan, that's just not an option for "Tenet."

"I think of all the films that I have made, this is perhaps the one that is most designed for the audience experience, the big screen experience," Nolan said. "This is a film whose image and sound needs to be enjoyed in your theaters on the big screen."

"Tenet" didn't receive the huge postponement that "Mulan" did and was only set back to July 31 from the initial release date of July 17.

It remains to be seen whether or not the films will stick to their rescheduled release dates.
