Will Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 lead all Android tablets to take on Apple's iPad?
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which is set to hit US retailers tomorrow is expected to be the next big thing in the tablet PC world. The tablet is priced at $499 for the 16 GB model and $599 for 32 GB model. Sprint will receive its version in mid-summer.
The Samsung’s tablet is the only tablet which holds the second spot in terms of sales after Apple’s iPad tablet. The first version of Samsung Galaxy Tab is a 7-inch model has so far sold close to 6 million units. Samsung couldn’t make it to the top as the ever towering Apple iPad and its different versions shipped close to 25 million or more units. The other tablet launched by Motorola known as Xoom also showed promise but in April, Motorola, while announcing sales figures, showed that only 250,000 units of Xoom were shipped to retail channel during Q1.
Apple surely seems to be on the edge after suing Samsung for patent and trade dress infringement over the design and packaging of the Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which came to the grasp of those who attended NYC has had positive impact. And few of them are claiming that the tablet can compete with Apple iPad 2 in terms of features and may be market share in future.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has all the features that can make it better than any Android tablet that was used to compare with the latest version iPad 2. The new Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also receive future software upgrade and the TouchWiz UX that was originally intended to be included in the tablet, Samsung's Media Hub and additional capabilities when the tablet is connected to a TV via a dock or adapter.
Also the CNET review of speed performance comparing Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with iPad 2 and HTC Flyer did not show much difference. “The biggest takeaway from these test results is that the relative speed and performance of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the HTC Flyer, and the iPad 2 are quite comparable on at least a couple of fronts. All three are zippy tablets with fast Wi-Fi components,” says the review.
