Will Smith And Chris Rock End Oscars Slap Feud? Diddy Claims ‘That’s Over’
Actor Will Smith caused quite a stir at the Academy Awards on Sunday when he took to the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock.
It appears the stars may have already settled their feud, according to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
While attending the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, Combs reportedly told Page Six there is no longer bad blood between the two men after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s shaved head before presenting the award for best documentary. Pinkett-Smith, who is married to Smith, has been open about her struggles with the autoimmune disorder alopecia.
“That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Combs told the New York Post.“It’s all love. They’re brothers.”
While Smith has not publicly addressed the incident with Rock. When Smith won the best actor award for his role in “King Richard,” he issued an apology to others.
“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all of my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment, and I’m not crying for winning an award,” Smith said at the time.
“It’s not about winning an award for me; it’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people.”
Following the slap, the Academy Awards issued a statement addressing the incident.
“The Academy does not condone violence of any form,” the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences stated in a tweet.
“Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”
Combs had attempted to diffuse the tension shortly after the slap when he appeared on stage to present “The Godfather” tribute.
“OK, Will and Chris, we’re going to solve that like family at the Gold Party, OK?” he said to the audience. “But right now we are moving on with love. Everybody make some noise!”
Rock has yet to make a statement addressing the altercation.
