Will There Be A ‘Reef Break’ Season 2? Renewal, Cancellation Details
It’s the end of the line for Season 1 of ABC’s “Reef Break” tonight, but is it the end of the line for the show for good?
After episode 13, titled “Endgame,” of the summer crime drama airs on Friday, fans will be left wondering what’s next for the series. Unfortunately, ABC hasn’t decided on that just yet.
It’s still up in the air whether the show will be renewed for Season 2 or canceled, but the ratings for “Reef Break” might suggest a not-so-happy outcome.
The show currently averages a 0.3 rating in the important 18-49 demographic and 1.942 million weekly viewers, according to TV Series Finale. With these numbers, “Reef Break” sits dead last, in both viewers and demo, on ABC’s list of summer 2019 shows.
Still, Poppy Montgomery, who stars as thief-turned-fixer Cat Chambers, tells TVLine there’s still hope for another season.
“You get a lot of bang for your buck on this show, meaning it looks beautiful and we are doing it very ‘efficiently’ when it comes to the price,” she said. “…And it’s an international co-production, so once it airs in France, we’ll get a real sense of what it looks like. If it’s a monster hit in France…”
Though a “Reef Break” Season 2 renewal is still uncertain, what is certain is that the Season 1 finale is going to be an episode full of action and chaos.
The synopsis teases that this will be Cat’s most difficult case yet, while Montgomery teases “there are a lot of lives in jeopardy.”
See for yourself what the episode is all about when it airs on ABC on Friday at 9 p.m. EDT.
