William H. Macy is still very much in love with his wife, Felicity Huffman, nearly 20 years after they exchanged "I dos."

The "Shameless" star revealed that "common interests" and open communication are important in their marriage. The "Desperate Housewives" star is keen on discussing every matter they are involved with.

"Felicity and I talk about it all. We read each other's scripts and we love to talk about acting," Macy told Entertainment Tonight. "She insists that we talk. She keeps us talking, which I'm not completely against. I'll talk, but talking leads to feeling and that's a slippery slope to living in your life and I'm Lutheran, I'm not sure I want to do that," Macy joked.

When asked about his secret in a successful Hollywood union, he said, "Marry Felicity Huffman." However, since this option is not available for everyone he suggested to "Marry someone nice," instead.

In September, the pair will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. According to the "Fargo" star, they are planning to do something big for their milestone.

"We've always fantasized about pushing all the furniture back, getting a full dance band and inviting all our pals over and having a dance, an old-fashioned swing dance kind of thing," Macy said.

Huffman and Macy got married in 1997. It took them 15 years before they decided to walk down the aisle. According to the "Transamerica" star, she was so scared of marriage. She feared she might lose her identity. For her, men's stock goes up when they are married, but it's the other way around for women. It took Macy a number of proposals before Huffman finally said yes.

"I was so scared of marriage that I thought I would've preferred to step in front of a bus," Huffman told Tribune News. "Macy asked me to marry him several times over several years. And I was finally smart enough to go: 'I'm going to marry this guy or really lose him for good.' And it was after we broke up for four or five years when he asked me again, I knew I couldn't say no."

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres (via Daily Mai), Huffman said that there is only one thing he hates about his husband and that's taking her car keys by accident, especially when she needs to drive their kids to school.

"He goes off to work I'm supposed to drive the kids to school and I end up calling going, 'Do you have my car keys in your pocket?' And he goes, 'Oh, yeah I do.' And I'm like 'What? I guess we're all taking an Uber to school,'" Huffman said.
