Windows 10 Mobile ROM Now Available For Download For Xiaomi Mi 4

In April, rumors started flying that Microsoft had begun testing the Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 handsets. Finally, the ROM is now available for download for LTE edition of Mi 4.

The arrival of the Windows 10 Mobile ROM was announced on the MIUI forum. Xiaomi Mi 4 users should be aware of the fact that the ROM is only compatible with the LTE variant of the Mi 4. Hence, it is not advisable to install the ROM on regular version of Mi 4.

According to NDTV, the Windows 10 Mobile ROM has been released after the co-founder of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, made public the company’s plan of making Windows 10 Mobile for Mi 4 users Thursday. In order to install the ROM, users are required to register for the Windows Insider program.

In July, Joe Belfiore, the Corporate Vice President, Operating Systems Group for the Redmond giant had hinted that the release of Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi mi 4 will ultimately allow more Android devices to run the Windows 10 Mobile, Neowin reported.

Apart from Microsoft, there are only few smartphone makers that release Windows Phone OS powered handsets. Hence, the whole idea behind launching the Windows 10 Mobile ROM is to let Android users enjoy the features of the Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

The Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 LTE handsets can be downloaded from here. The MIUI forum post contains the Windows 10 flashing tool and tutorial on how to flash the ROM. The post carries a disclaimer that ROM could have soma bugs. Hence, Mi 4 LTE users are advised to flash the device with Windows 10 Mobile ROM at their own risk.
