Windsor Hotel Rooms Sold Out After Meghan Markle-Prince Harry Wedding Date Announcement
Windsor hotel rooms are sold out after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the official date of their wedding.
The couple will be tying the knot on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Fans of Marke and Prince Harry who wish to be in the same location as them are out of luck because 98 percent of the hotel rooms are already fully booked. A few rooms that are still available for reservation have become too expensive.
According to People, Windsor hotel room listings on websites such as Trip Advisor, Expedia and Hotels.com have little to no vacancies. The surge in bookings came just minutes after Markle and Prince Harry’s announcement.
More specifically, hotels that are just a few minutes away from St. George’s Chapel, namely, Castle Hotel Windsor, the Macdonald Windsor Hotel and Sir Christopher Wren Hotel and Spa are fully booked. Even lodgings in places that are father away from the wedding venue are also full.
Meanwhile, other than the fans of Prince Harry and Markle, several media outlets have also been contacting various hotels for their stay during their wedding. These people are expected to cover Prince Harry and Markle’s nuptials.
“The majority of the people that are contacting us are news crews. Lots of interest from the U.S., Australia, as well as the U.K. outlet. The protocol for us is that we hard close the hotel until we know more about what is going on, and we are able to go back to all the companies that have contacted us and say these are the dates, our prices and length-of-stay restrictions. And then it’s first come, first served after that,” Phil Lewis, general manager of the Macdonald Windsor Hotel said.
Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement on Nov. 27 via statement from the Kensington Palace. Days later, they attended their first public engagement in Nottingham.
Other details about the couple’s upcoming wedding are still being kept under wraps, but they will most likely be revealed in the coming weeks.
