Winter Solstice 2020: 10 Quotes To Celebrate Shortest Day Of The Year
Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, more specifically for people who live in the Northern Hemisphere. The winter solstice occurs the moment the North Pole is tilted the furthest away from the Sun – 23.5 degrees, to be precise.
It begins with Pagan's Yule celebration and falls on Dec. 21 or 22 depending on the exact location of the Earth. This year's solstice will occur at approximately 5.02 a.m. EST, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The most prominent place to celebrate this occasion is at Stonehenge, which is aligned to the sunset on winter solstice. Even though this year the winter solstice celebrations have been canceled at Stonehenge due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you can still watch it live from your home.
