Withings has announced a new fitness tracker called the Pulse HR. The new fitness tracker is the company’s second health-focused device since it relaunched in September.

The Withings Pulse HR is more of a traditional fitness tracker rather than a smartwatch, like the Steel HR Sport from September. The design of the Pulse HR is a bit reminiscent of the Fitbit Charge 3, but it’s actually a follow-up to the Withings Pulse from 2013, as pointed out by Android Authority. It comes with a rectangular OLED display, a stainless steel body and interchangeable silicone wristband straps. The device has a water resistance rating of up to 50 meters.

The OLED display on the Pulse HR is able to show phone notifications, heart rate, steps, distance, calories, activities and alarm settings. Inside, the fitness tracker comes with a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor, which is able to measure the user’s heart rate in 10-minute intervals. The Pulse HR is able to do this all day and while the user is preoccupied with workouts.

Although the Pulse HR comes with an OLED display, it doesn’t have an always-on display feature. Instead, it uses a simple raise-to-wake function that turns on the display. Users will also be able to turn on the display by pressing the physical button on the side, according to 9To5Google.

Since the Withings Pulse HR is primarily a fitness tracker, it is designed to automatically track 10 activties. However, users also have to option to manually select what type of workout they want to track. There are over 30 different types of workouts that can be manually selected, including boxing and skiing.

Unfortunately, the Pulse HR doesn’t have built-in GPS. If users want to have GPS tracking enabled, they will need to carry a connected smartphone with them. The Pulse HR is compatible with Android and iOS devices, and users will have to install the companion app in order to take advantage of the GPS features.

The fitness tracker is also compatible with third-party fitness apps like Google Fit and Apple Health. Probably the best feature of the Withings Pulse HR is battery life. Withings claims that the fitness tracker can last up to 20 days on a single charge as long as it is subjected to normal usage. When in continuous workout mode, the device can also deliver 5 days of battery life.

The Withings Pulse HR is available to pre-order now for just $129.95 from Withings and Amazon. The device will start shipping to customers on Dec. 5.
