Woman Beaten To Death By Men For Refusing Drinks At Karaoke Center
A woman was beaten to death by a few men after she refused to drink with them. The incident took place at a Karaoke center in Taipei, Taiwan, on July 28.
Local media reported Tuesday that a man, identified by surname Xu, went to the center along with his 34-year-old wife and sister-in-law. The two unnamed women entered the outlet before Xu as he wanted to park his car. At the counter, the women were approached by a group of young men. However, they ignored them and went to the room allotted to them.
A while later, the women went to the washroom and encountered the same group of men who were holding beers. The men spoke to the women and asked them to accompany them for a drink. However, the women went back to the room where Xu was waiting for them. However, the men, who were furious about the women turning down their request, followed the women to the room. The men, who were visibly drunk, then started shouting and pointing at the two women.
In order to defend the two women, Xu got into a fight with the men which ended with Xu’s wife falling unconscious after being beaten up by the men. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to injuries. Police were investigating the incident and arrested five men in connection with the woman’s death.
Xu, however, said he was furious with the staff at the center as no one came forward to help them and was looking at taking legal action against the outlet. Meanwhile, the staff said everything was very chaotic and they were afraid to intervene. They instead decided to wait for police, who arrived at the scene only after the woman fell unconscious.
