Woman Hacked To Death By Partner At Son's Birthday Party Following Heated Argument

A 28-year-old farmer in the Philippines' southern Davao de Oro province hacked his live-in partner to death during an argument, according to reports.

Jimmy Genobiagon Artelahon and his partner, Jelly Joy Coscos, 20, celebrated their son's birthday party Wednesday at their home in the Dumlan neighborhood of Maco, radio station Bombo Radyo reported, citing the municipality's police.

But the two allegedly got into an argument at around midnight after guests had left.

Coscos had threatened to leave the residence with their child, according to ABS-CBN News.

The threat reportedly angered Artelahon, who then cut Coscos in the head, back and other parts of the body at dawn.

Coscos ended up dying from the wounds that she sustained.

Artelahon surrendered himself, and local officials brought him to the Maco Municipal Police Station.

Police are preparing evidence connected to the criminal case that will be filed against Artelahon, according to the reports.

In a similar story, a 25-year-old man in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh shot his brother and sister-in-law over a law dispute while the two victims were celebrating their daughter's birthday late last year.

The man, identified only as Moolchand, used a pistol to fire four rounds at his brother, Mohit Sharma, and his brother's wife, Pooja, in the village of Khidarpur in Bulandshahr Saturday night on Nov. 13, according to Khanpur station house officer Shatrughan Yadav.

The couple's daughter, Harshita Sharma, was cutting her birthday cake when Moolchand, who also went by the alias Moola Kumar, started shooting, unnamed guests at the party claimed.

Before the shooting, Harshita pleaded with her uncle to let her parents go, but Moolchand ignored her, according to witnesses.

The incident left Mohit and Pooja critically injured, and both were taken to a hospital in Delhi.

Moolchand, who allegedly left the scene while waving his pistol in the air, was later arrested.

He and Mohit had argued over the distribution of paternal land before the party and during the event, police said.

"The family and guests were all stunned and couldn't do much when he took out the pistol," Yadav said.

"Most of them initially thought that it was celebratory firing," the officer added.
