"Wonder Woman" star Lynda Carter is opening up about her emotional state months after losing her husband of 37 years, Robert Altman.

The 70-year-old actress, who was the first to bring Diana Prince to life in the '70s, spoke about her grief during an interview with People, admitting that she was terrified of beginning a new chapter in her life without her husband.

"The next part of my life is I want to learn who I am. It's totally frightening. I don't know who I am without Robert," Carter said of Altman, who died in February of myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer.

The actress was teary-eyed as she added, "It still gets me. I just can't believe I've lost him," according to the outlet.

Carter met the Washington, D.C., lawyer in 1982 at a dinner hosted by Maybelline. She was the face of the company, while Altman was the attorney for its parent company.

At the time, the actress was in the process of divorcing her first husband, Hollywood manager Ron Samuels, and "was not prepared to meet anyone new." Carter said. But she and Altman had an instant connection and chemistry.

They fell in love and tied the knot on Jan. 29, 1984. They share two children, James, 33, and Jessica, 31, both of whom followed in their father's footsteps and became lawyers.

While looking back at their marriage, Carter shared that just like any love story, they also went through some difficult times, but they weathered them all together.

"We'd been through ups and downs and ins and outs, and I'd never in my life felt the love and the support and the thrill of having a guy like this," she told the outlet.

Carter stood by Altman when he was accused of fraud in a 1992 bank scandal. He was later acquitted on all counts. The lawyer also supported her when she admitted to having an alcohol problem and urged her to get the help she needed. According to the "Sky High" actress, her late husband only wanted her to be "healthy and happy and OK."

Following Altman's death, Carter turned to music to cope with the loss. On Friday, she will release her song "Human and Divine," which she wrote in tribute to him and their marriage.

"It was a real romance," she explained. "I was really trying to define love and loss and make sure it was about the human-ness of love."

Carter will reprise her role as the warrior Asteria in "Wonder Woman 3," which will be released in 2023.
