‘World Of Dance’ Pitted Against ‘So You Think You Can Dance’; Which Show Is Better?
NBC’s “World of Dance” and FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” are being pitted against each other.
The former premiered on May 31 and drew in 9.7 million viewers and a 2.4 demo rating. Three weeks into the show, “World of Dance” still earns steady ratings among audiences aged 18 to 49. “So You Think You Can Dance,” on the other hand, is currently on its 14th season. It premiered on June 12 and drew in 3.6 million viewers and 0.9 demo rating. These figures are a bit lower than the ratings the dance reality competition received for Season 13 of “So You Think You Can Dance: Next Generation.”

TV Line urged their readers to choose between the two reality TV shows, and majority of them responded that they prefer Jennifer Lopez’s show over Nigel Lythgoe’s. One of the reasons had to do with the fact that “World of Dance” is new so it’s concept is still unique for viewers. “World of Dance” also features all forms and styles of dancing, and there are four stages before one act can win the $1 million grand prize.
There are also some viewers who said they preferred the approach on “So You Think You Can Dance” and loved the fact that Vanessa Hudgens is now part of the judge’s panel. However, there are also a lot who said they are not pleased with Mary Murphy’s return and her screaming.
Based on the ratings alone, it’s confirmed that “World of Dance” is more popular than “So You Think You Can Dance.” But this could change in the coming weeks. On Monday night, a slew of new dancers will take the “So You Think You Can Dance” stage, while on Tuesday, new talents will be introduced in “World of Dance.” Since the auditions are already over for the latter, NBC will now move on to the second round of competition -- the duels.
“World of Dance” is hosted by Jenna Dewan Tatum, while “So You Think You Can Dance” is hosted by Cat Deeley. The judges for the former include Ne-Yo and Derek Hough.
