“World of Dance” Season 2 just wrapped up its Qualifiers episodes, and the first Duels installment finally aired on Wednesday night.

In this round, two dancers from the same category were pitted against each other. There are four categories on NBC’s “World of Dance” this season, namely, Upper, Upper Team, Junior, and Junior Team.

Upper contestants Karen y Ricardo and Luka & Jenalyn were pitted against each other first. Both gave a show-stopping performance, but it was Karen y Ricardo that advanced to the next round.

Junior Team dancers Untouchables and Expressenz performed next. The former was eliminated from the competition, and Expressenz will move on to The Cut.

Upper dancers Pasha & Daniella competed against hip-hop dancers BDash & Konkrete. Judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo chose the latter to stay in the competition.

Junior Team performers The Rascals and The Fabulous Sisters performed next. The judges had a tough time deciding which of the two groups will make it to the next round. They ultimately chose to keep The Fabulous Sisters.

Upper dancer Michael Dameski won over Angyil with an overall score of 94.7. Angyil only received a score of 88.3 from the judges.

Upper Team The Bradas and The Jam Project fought for a spot in The Cut. But it was The Bradas the pulled through. However, their score of 89.7 was one of the lowest overall scores of the night.

But the biggest shocker of the season came following Eva Igo and Avery & Marcus’ performance. The Junior dancers both gave stunning performances. Igo previously competed in “World of Dance” Season 1, and she made it all the way to the finale. However, it was Les Twins that brought home the title and the $1 million prize.

This season, Igo failed to impress the judges as much as Avery & Marcus did. She was sent home with an overall score of 92. Avery & Marcus, on the other hand, earned a score of 93.3.

Next week, more dancers will compete against each other before The Cut airs.

“World of Dance” Season 2 airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
