World’s first and only turbine-powered Batmobile comes to life [Videos]
Auto restoration expert Casey Putsch has built the world’s first turbine-powered Batmobile which has an enhanced Boeing turboshaft engine obtained from a naval drone helicopter.
Batman fanatic Putsch said that the car will be yet another inclusion to his collection. The new full-size Batmobile has made him the Dark Knight’s greatest fan ever.
The car’s most unique feature is its custom-built monocoque chassis that will allow the car to balance its weight around the body instead of solely on the chassis. The vehicle also showcases an independent cockpit-adjustable suspension with limited slip differential disk brakes and a sliding canopy.
The interior of the car has been provided with mods including an iPad in the dash that will serve as the avionics system and keeps track of the important GPS coordinates, according to an Engadget report.
The legendary Batmobile used by the Dark Knight himself is about 15 feet (4.57 m) long and has a width of about nine feet and four inches (2.84 m). The batman-driven vehicle weighs about 2.3 tonnes and has a 5.7 liter GM V8 engine capable of 500 horsepower (370 kW) engine with built-in propane tanks.
