'World's Longest Tooth' Extracted From 20-Year-Old Man's Mouth After He Complains Of Jaw Ache
A whopping 39 millimeter (1.5 inches) tooth was extracted from a 20-year-old man’s mouth after he complained of constant jaw ache. The incident took place in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Feb.9 and the man has since made a full recovery.
Local media reported Monday that the man, identified as Pawan Bhavsar, visited a dentist and complained of suffering from gum swelling and jaw ache. The dentist performed tests and informed the man that two of his teeth needed to be extracted as they were the ones causing all the pain.
The dentist was shocked after plucking out the two teeth as the larger one measured 39 millimeters. This could set a Guinness World Record for the world's longest tooth which is presently being held by Mijo Vodopija from Croatia whose tooth measuring 37.2mm was extracted in 2018.
Speaking to media two years ago, Vadopija’s dentist had described the tooth as “unbelievable” and said, “The patient presented with swelling in his mouth. The tooth looked really long on the X-ray, it was unbelievable. The tooth had to be removed immediately as no other treatment was possible.”
Meanwhile, Bhavsar’s doctor said he has since made a full recovery and is not suffering from any oral problem.
