Would Queen Mother Have Approved Of Camilla Inheriting Queen Consort Role?
Queen Mother passed away in 2002 so she didn’t get the chance to see Camilla Parker Bowles assume the role of queen consort.
But if Queen Elizabeth II’s mom were still alive, would she have approved of Prince Charles’ wife becoming the next queen consort? Royal fans recently weighed in on the matter in the online forum site Quora.
Brandon Macken, a reader and writer on the Queen and the royal family, claimed that the Queen Mother did not think highly of the Duchess of Cornwall. This is why he is convinced that the Queen Mother wouldn’t have liked it if her old title would be given to Camilla.
Rachel LeQuire noted the fact that Queen Mother was still alive when Prince Charles and Camilla rekindled their romance. She was also alive when Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced. She saw all of the drama involving the members of the royal family and wasn’t a fan of them.
But since the Queen Mother adored Prince Charles, it is possible that she wouldn’t mind giving the title of Queen Consort away to the woman that her grandson loves.
Gregory Ross Miller, who works at Regents of the University of California, thinks that the Queen Mother would have no problem with Camilla’s title.
“You see, lots of people think that Camilla is an evil person and she’s not. Camilla was needed at a time when chaos was about to erupt upon the royal household… Diana was a lovely person but she was overly aggressive and many times broke royal protocol,” he wrote.
Elizabeth Davies, a graduate at the University of Liverpool, said that the Queen Mother was extremely close to Prince Charles and wanted nothing but to see him happy.
“She herself was a traditional wife, happy to take a supporting role to her husband, even though she was arguably the stronger character. So she would have more in common with Camilla…” she wrote.
