KEY POINTS

  • Humberto Carrillo and Sheamus fell badly in stunt gone wrong at a recent WWE SmackDown episode
  • Carrillo is feeling fine after his failed high-risk move and is ready for his next chance at Sheamus
  • Sheamus is also doing well and has started taunting Mexican wrestler

Rising WWE star Humberto Carrillo got another shot at the U.S. title of Sheamus, but one of his high-risk moves went haywire. The Mexican was attempting a sunset flip at one point from the ring apron, but both wrestlers had an awkward landing on the arena floor.

Carrillo appeared to have lost his balance, and that resulted in Sheamus landing on him inadvertently. From the video footage, the 25-year-old could be seen signaling someone by the hand and appearing to call for the familiar timeout sign. The Irishman appeared to be injured as well as he tried to crawl and move toward the Mexican.

The WWE referee came down the ring to check on the two stars, likely to check on them. He counted out both men, and Sheamus managed to get up at some point. But after his hands were raised, the WWE champion was unable to hold his balance and ended up falling back to the arena floor.

As for Carrillo, it is yet to be known what kind of injury he sustained. He appeared to hold on to his upper-left thigh, but his back may have also gotten the worst of that maneuver. Also worth noting is that an off-balanced Sheamus landed on his knee — yet another potential injury.

But based on an update from Carrillo, there appears to be no cause for alarm. He said via Twitter that it was the first time he was unable to finish a match, before vowing to push himself to the limit and send a fair warning to the “Celtic Warrior.”

“Last night was the first time I couldn’t finish a match in my whole wrestling career, but when you push the limits as I do anything can happen in a split of second,” Carrillo tweeted.

Sheamus appeared fine as well and responded to Carrillo's tweet. Being the heel character he is portraying right now, he taunted and poked fun at the Mexican over the “Dublin Smile.

Looking ahead, it appears this is not the last that WWE fans have seen of Sheamus and Carrillo. The mess could spark a different story angle and make the rivalry worth following.
