WWE is considering some potentially big changes to the WWE Network and content distribution, Friday’s financial reports for 2019 revealed.

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon spoke about the changes during an investor call on Thursday ahead of the release of the 2019 financial report. He said it is considering selling content rights to another “major” streaming service, such as an ESPN+, which McMahon said wants WWE-style content.

“Well, we have a lot of options. We could continue on as we are now, with a … free tier and a more enhanced paid tier,” McMahon said during the investor call. “Right now there’s no more better time to exercise the selling of our rights to all the majors who, quite frankly, all the majors are really clamoring for our content. So that could be a significant increase, obviously, in terms of revenue.”

When asked if these would include one of WWE’s “big four” pay-per-views, like Wrestlemania, McMahon said nothing is “off limits.”

“There’s nothing — obviously the devil’s in the details with any of these arrangements — but at this point, there’s nothing that looks like it would be anything that stops us from doing any type of transaction with the network, if we chose to,” interim CFO Frank Riddick said.

McMahon followed up, saying it’s far enough along in talks with prospective streaming partners that an announcement would be made by “the first quarter” of their 2020 financial year.

However, he said the company is open to other possibilities if WWE decides to continue as is with the WWE Network, including third-party ads to increase revenue from its corporate partners and sponsors.

Another would expand WWE Network availability to markets like the Middle East and India where WWE’s presence has grown over the last few years.
