  • The WWE Universe still hopes to watch CM Punk in action soon

When the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) mentioned how a match between CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin could be a dream fight, it was supposedly a fan engagement post. The company wanted the WWE Universe to give their opinion on who they thought would win the challenge.

However, things spiced up when CM Punk joined the conversation that was happening on Twitter.

The first time when CM Punk and Steve Austin came face to face was in June 2011. It was during the time when CM Punk was gaining popularity as the leader of Nexus and the challenger for John Cena's WWE Championship.

The WWE did not organize a fight between the two as there was just a war of words and that reflected similarities in the personality of CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin and gave away a clear impression of a dream match if the two ever encountered against each other in the ring.

As time passed by, the match never happened. With Steve Austin retired and CM Punk being away from the WWE for controversial reasons, the WWE Universe had lost hope of this particular match.

However, the current scenario in the WWE company has been interesting. Several Hall of Famers like Shawn Michaels, Trish Stratus, and others have been returning for one final match in WWE. Now with CM Punk clearly returned to the WWE once again, the dream match between him and Steve Austin can genuinely be anticipated by the fans and the fraternity.

Ever since CM Punk confirmed his return to the WWE, a lot of star wrestlers have challenged the former champion for a fight. As of now, his contract is just with FOX Network's WWE Backstage. However, the WWE Universe sees this as CM Punk's first step toward his return to the ring.

After parting ways from WWE in 2014, Punk took up multiple gigs. He is now signed up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he fights in the welterweight division, and to Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC), where he works as a commentator. Apart from his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) career, Punk has gone on to author comic books for Marvel and more recently, star in the horror film “Girl on the Third Floor.
