WWE Rumors: Edge Looking Beyond WrestleMania 37, Eyes Rivalry With Former Champ
KEY POINTS
- Edge wants a new storyline with Daniel Bryan
- Edge and Bryan share similar miracle WWE comeback stories
- Edge vs. Bryan may happen after WrestleMania 37
Edge, whose real name is Adam Copeland, has yet to decide on what WWE world title he will target for WrestleMania 37 after winning the 2021 Royal Rumble.
Rather than address that, it appears the "Rated-R Superstar" is looking beyond that if his health keeps up.
One WWE star that Edge is interested in facing is Daniel Bryan. Ironically, both share similar stories on returning to the squared-circle.
The 47-year-old saw his WWE career come to a stop after a neck injury he sustained in 2011. For some reason, he was able to find a way to wrestle again and has so far been doing well.
Beyond Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre, Bryan is someone he would love to face. Both already crossed paths in 2010 although things were different then.
This is perhaps the reason why Edge wants to face the leader of the "Yes" movement once again but after WrestleMania 37.
"I'd love to do an Iron Man with Daniel Bryan. There's just so much talent I would love to get in with... It's just really fun for me because I see them get wide-eyed because we're having this cool, special moment, and I want more of those," Edge told Brent Brookhouse of CBS Sports recently.
Like Edge, Bryan had to battle adversity to reach his stature now. A neck injury also placed him in dire straits, compounded with a concussion issue.
Bryan retired in 2016 but somehow managed to return in 2018. Hence, their similar stories account for a good storyline that WWE fans are bound to love.
Ironically, Bryan was also mentioned as a possible opponent for Reigns at WrestleMania 37. But with storylines getting altered frequently, it appears all that has been shelved.
Claims of Edge possibly challenging the "Tribal Chief" have been mentioned although some feel McIntyre would be a better target.
Bryan has no clear storyline for now. But if he does, it is likely to be short-term.
So whatever happens after WrestleMania 37, this is a storyline to watch. It would be a classic rivalry for two men who weathered the odds to make their WWE return.
One concern is that their fragile nature needs to be considered, including the fact that they are already in their 40s. Bryan turns 40 this coming May.
