KEY POINTS

  • Brock Lesnar is the current WWE champion
  • WWE are struggling to finalize Lesnar's WrestleMania 36 opponent
  • Tyson Fury has openly challenged Lesnar for a WWE match

Brock Lesnar, who is guaranteed to be involved in a marquee match at every WrestleMania event, is yet to be given his final opponent for the WrestleMania 36 match.

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company recently revealed that they have changed plans for Brock Lesnar multiple times because of alterations that have been made to the RAW and SmackDown fixtures in the last few weeks.

A few news reports have suggested that Brock Lesnar could face one of the following in the much-awaited championship fight on the biggest stage of WWE - Aleister Black, Ricochet, Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury and Randy Orton.

Considering the storyline, a match between Lesnar and Orton could do wonders for the WWE company in terms of revenue as the fight has a history too. In 2016, Lesnar literally cut up Orton’s skull in the middle of a match [SummerSlam] and hence a new fight between the two has the potential to turn into a huge success among fans.

Meanwhile, one-match WWE fighter, Fury has openly challenged Lesnar. Fury made his debut at the Crown Jewel in October and came out victorious as he defeated Braun Strowman.

Following the fight, Fury insisted that he enjoyed the fight and would return to the WWE ring soon.

"It [WWE debut] went really well. It was a good experience. WWE were fantastic. I’m gonna go back and destroy Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble… WrestleMania, rather, in Florida this year [2020]. After I beat Wilder, I’m coming for Brock," Fury claimed in a recent interview.

It is believed that WWE is waiting to see the result of the Fury vs Deontay Wilder match in February before they make a decision in regards to the WrestleMania match. If Fury defeats his opponent, he’ll become the WBC Heavyweight Champion, and pitting two champions of different sports would be an irresistible offer in terms of traction and the WWE would want to dive in into this particular opportunity.
