  • Velveteen Dream is one of NXT's biggest stars
  • The recent NXT Takeover saw Dream lose against Adam Cole
  • It is said that the Dream is still not getting a call-up to the main brand

It has been a tremendous run for the NXT superstar Velveteen Dream as he's proven to be one of the more talented members of the brand. After a grueling loss in NXT Takeover: In Your House against Adam Cole, it’s said that Dream still won’t be suiting up for Raw or SmackDown.

While it was heavily believed that Dream was headed to the main roster, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, by way of SEScoops shared that the versatile star is staying on NXT.

The stipulation of the recent pay-per-view event stated that Dream can no longer compete for the title against Cole if he loses their matchup. The loss set up the probable direction that Dream was set for a call-up. But Meltzer shared that the company has other plans for the 24-year-old.

“Velveteen Dream is not coming up,” Meltzer said.

“I was pretty much told that’s not happening now. Someday, of course, it will happen but it’s not in the plans today,” Meltzer added.

The manner that Dream has performed has made him one of the more anticipated athletes of NXT. Throughout his stint with the show, he has won the NXT North American Championship and was lauded for his unique gimmick.

The character that he created features a mysterious presence mixed with a heavy influence on legendary musician Prince. The enigmatic persona that the Dream displays has been seen as a unique take on such an athletic character.

Several stars have already made the jump from NXT to either Raw or SmackDown. The latest one includes The Original Bro Matt Riddle. Just last week, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle introduced Riddle as the latest addition to Friday Night SmackDown.

There’s a lot of hype for Riddle with his laid-back gimmick and his experience as an MMA fighter. It’s speculated that one day Dream may follow a similar path when the time is right.

The WWE and NXT have continued airing weekly episodes despite the onset of the global pandemic. Matches are all performed in their performance center with limited staff members allowed within the premises.
