WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns In Need Of Opponents That Can Buy Him Time Until WrestleMania 38
KEY POINTS
- Roman Reigns is running out of credible opponents
- His feud against Lesnar may culminate at WrestleMania 38
- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being teased as Reigns' next possible foe
Roman Reigns has held on to the WWE Universal Championship for 449 days and counting.
Unless scriptwriters have a new twist in mind, it appears "The Tribal Chief" is well on his way to breaking the 503-day record held by Brock Lesnar.
Beyond the longest WWE Universal Title reign, a potential concern is who would give the champion some worthy competition.
Reigns have taken on the best, and it appears WWE is saving the best for the big events such as the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 38.
So the big question right now is what is next for "The Big Dog" after running roughshod over a plethora of names that include Finn Balor, John Cena, Edge and Big E.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Paul Heyman gave his take on what could be next for Reigns.
“The next goal for Roman Reigns is clear, and that is to be better tomorrow than he is today. His goal is to be better in two weeks than he is next week, to make next week’s SmackDown better than this week, and to make the SmackDown that airs in three weeks better than it is in two weeks,” Heyman stated.
The response hardly addresses what most fans want to know
Potential short-term feuds with WWE stars such as Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre or King Woods could be lined up.
Starting the Lesnar feud this early could make sense but may wade heading into WrestleMania 38.
Aside from those names, a feud with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was also suggested.
However, the availability of Reigns’ cousin is a problem with the 49-year-old pretty much tied up with his Hollywood commitments.
The earliest time that “The Rock” could be available is 2023, a time frame that makes no sense for WWE.
