Wrestlemania 36 is approaching and the rumors and speculations are starting to brew. Smackdown’s Women’s Champion Bayley is said to be booked against Naomi in the grandest stage of them all. As reported by Wrestling Observer Live by way of Ringside News, the two are expected to clash in Wrestlemania even with a title shot is on the line in the upcoming Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia.
The current setup for this Friday’s episode of Smackdown is the number one contender’s match for the right to challenge Bayley in the international pay per view on February 27. The matchup is set to be Naomi and Carmella to fight this Friday. Carmella is seen as a possible contender for the Smackdown Women’s Title. She has held the title before and was a former Money In The Bank Winner.
The results of the next few weeks are not final yet as it could open up multiple paths. But the main speculation is that Carmella will challenge Bayley in Super ShowDown and the writers will somehow develop a Naomi and Bayley angle in time for Wrestlemania.
Naomi can step up to the big stage, as she has been a successful individual wrestler herself. She is a two-time WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion and was the winner of the 2018 Wrestlemania Women’s Battle Royal. She was recently out for months due to personal reasons but made a return to the recent Women’s Royal Rumble.
Bayley is also a decorated athlete inside the ring. She made an impressive debut at NXT where she was a former NXT Women’s Champion. She has also held the Raw Women’s Championship and she is on her second reign as the Smackdown Women’s Champion. Known as the colorful and bubbly character, Bayley has taken a heel turn for the first time in her career.
The matchup between the two is expected to happen and is anticipated to be one of the big title matches in the Wrestlemania pay per view in April. The other defending women’s title matches include Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship and Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship.
