WWE Sets Up SummerSlam 2017 Main Event, Kurt Angle Reveals Secret On ‘Monday Night Raw’ [VIDEO]
The latest edition of “Monday Night Raw” set the stage for several major storylines for the coming weeks in WWE. The SummerSlam 2017 main event came one step closer to being made official, and Kurt Angle revealed the secret that he had been hiding for weeks.
There have been rumors for months regarding what match would close out SummerSlam 2017 at Barclays Center on Aug. 20. It seemed pretty clear that Brock Lesnar would defend his WWE Universal Championship in the main event, but he had a few options as far as opponents go, namely Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

Following Monday’s No.1 contender match, it looks like both WWE superstars, as well as another wrestler, will take on Lesnar at SummerSlam.
Samoa Joe, who nearly defeated Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire, faced Reigns Monday night with a shot at Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship on the line. The match never had an official conclusion because Strowman interfered, laying out both wrestlers to end the show. It was Strowman’s first appearance since Great Balls of Fire, where he defeated Reigns in an ambulance match, but was attacked by his opponent after the final bell rang.
As the general manager of “Monday Night Raw,” Angle was asked what Strowman’s interference meant for the main event of SummerSlam. Angle wasn’t ready to give an answer just yet, though at this point it’d be surprising if the next big pay-per-view doesn’t conclude with a fatal 4-way.
Angle wasn’t prepared to name Lesnar’s opponent just yet because he was dealing with another matter. Having teased for weeks that he had unexpected news to share, Angle announced Monday night that he’s the father of Jason Jordan.
Jordan had been on the “SmackDown Live” roster for a year since he was drafted to the blue brand with Chad Gable as part of American Alpha. With Angle’s announcement came the news that Jordan would now be competing on “Monday Night Raw.”
When Angle began the reveal and indicated he had an illegitimate son in college that was now a WWE superstar, many fans assumed Gable would be headed to the ring. Like Angle, Gable was an Olympic wrestler, and it appears he could be in line for a singles push soon, after having a match with AJ Styles two weeks ago.
American Alpha beat Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships in December, losing the belts shortly before WrestleMania 33.

With the way the storyline had been going, there was speculation that Angle would reveal he was having an affair. Former TNA president Dixie Carter and Stephanie McMahon were the two names that most fans theorized might show up on “Monday Night Raw,” possibly setting up a match between Angle and Triple H at SummerSlam.
With a month to go until SummerSlam, however, the chances of Angle having a match at the event are probably slim. He hasn’t wrestled since coming back to WWE on the episode of “Monday Night Raw” immediately following WrestleMania 33.
