The new season of “The Eric Andre Show” got off on the wrong foot, resulting in Eric Andre ending up with a concussion after a scene with WWE superstar John Cena didn’t turn out well.
The 37-year-old comedian made the revelation when he appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
In the scene that can be viewed in the video below, Cena made a surprise appearance that seemingly had Andre tussling with someone else.
What can only be seen from the segment was Andre crashing through a shelf with the two exchanging pleasantries.
According to Andre via Entertainment Weekly, Cena did the stunt right, but they prepared for the stunt wrong.
"That metal shelf came over and clocked me on the head and I got concussed," Andre said. "I went to the hospital immediately. I had like a Fred Flintstone, like Bugs Bunny [bump] on the side of my head."
Kimmel kidded Andre that he was lucky that he had shaved his head at the time. Otherwise, he would have not seen the injury which would have been hidden in his afro.
“The Eric Andre Show” will return on Sunday, Oct. 25, on Adult Swim after a four-year respite. Other guests appearing on Season 5 of the show include Judy Greer, Blake Griffin, Luis Guzman, Omarion, Adam Rippon, Dermot Mulroney, Tia Carrere, Robin Givens and Jai Rodriguez.
As for Cena, the former WWE champion was last seen during Wrestlemania 36. It was a short-lived return with the 16-time former champion losing to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Fun House match.
He has since been busy with his acting career, with no official word on when he may return to the WWE.
Cena recently married his girlfriend of 18 months, Marry Shay Shariatzadeh, in Tampa, Florida, with a small ceremony at the downtown office of attorney Dilip Patel.
Both made their red carpet debut together in October of last year on “Playing with Fire,” according to People.com.
For some, it was a surprise development considering this is the same guy who once said: “I don’t want marriage.”
Apparently, the script got flipped with Shariatzadeh per report from EOnline. Cena was previously married to Nikki Bella before the two split In April 2018.
