'The X-Files' 2016 Spoilers: Rhys Darby Teases Building Up Mulder's Want To 'Believe' In Episode 3 Of Miniseries
Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) has searched for different kinds of creatures, monsters, and aliens in his time on Fox's "The X-Files." However, after being away for so long, the FBI agent will discover that his personal belief into the unknowns isn't as strong as it used to be. A character named Guy Mann (Rhys Darby) will look to help Mulder rediscover that in episode 3 of the 2016 miniseries, titled "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster."
In an interview with A.V. Club, Darby said he's a big fan of "The X-Files" even though he "missed the bandwagon" the first time the show was on. He also revealed that his character will get to remind Mulder of what's important to him and why he should not give up on wanting to believe.
"I get to remind him of what his quest has been and how he is a believer and should be a believer. Because that’s what he is and [in the episode] he’s kind of lost that within himself and needs to be reminded of it all," Darby dished.
Darby added that he had a great role for someone who is a fan of the show. The 41-year-old actor will be guest starring alongside fellow "X-Files" fan Kumail Nanjiani in Monday's episode.
"I got to deal with Mulder, I got to talk to him, I had a fight sequence with him. Really for anyone who is a fan of the show, I think I fulfilled a lot of young boys’ dreams," Darby said.
In episode 3, Mulder and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are going to take on a case with a monster in it. The two are called in to look into a case involving a dead body that's discovered in the woods. Mulder and Scully will try to figure out if the person was killed by a serial killer, animal, or a "mysterious creature." Although the two agents could be looking for a monster, the episode will be filled with funny moments, thanks to Mulder, Scully and the comedic guest stars.
