‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Set Photos Leak; See ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Sophie Turner As Jean Grey
Set photos from “X-Men: Apocalypse" have leaked, giving comic book fans their first look at some of the series' new actors. Following 20th Century Fox's release of the first images of Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit- McPhee), new pictures reveal what Julibee (Lana Condor), young Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and young Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) look like.
These snapshots aren’t quite as professional as the Nightcrawler photo. It seems a fan found the “X-Men: Apocalypse” set in Montreal Monday and used a camera phone to take the shots. While the photos don’t reveal any spoilers about the movie's plot, they do show what the new characters look like.
Jean Grey was originally played by Famke Janssen in the original “X-Men” in 2000. “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner’s hair is naturally quite a bit lighter, but it looks like Jean Grey’s style was also a little brighter in the past. She appears to be wearing some sort of blue pants with a matching jacket, which is definitely different from Jean Grey’s dark wardrobe in the original films. Her hair has quite a bit of volume, but that’s appropriate for the time period.
Jean looks pretty on-trend for the 1980s, which is likely when the film takes place. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg revealed last year the sequel would probably take place in that era. “It’d be more interesting to see where they were as characters 10 years later, not just one year later,” Kinberg told Total Film. “We’ll do something similar with 'Apocalypse,' pushing further into our past and their future. I grew up in the '80s, and there’s no music I like more than the '80s, and there’s a very good chance it’ll be in the '80s.”
Also looking quite appropriate for the 1980s is Condor's character Jubilee. The character’s yellow jacket and pink sunglasses not only match the time period, but also match her comic book character’s standard outfit. Get a better glimpse of her look below:
Although these characters’ images leaked before the studio intended, there are still plenty of photos fans are anxiously waiting to see. Psylocke (Olivia Munn) will be introduced in the film, and there are rumors that Channing Tatum’s character, Gambit, will be make his first appearance as well.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 27, 2016. How do you feel about Jean Grey’s new look? Sound off in the comments section below!
