Xbox Goes Beyond The Game Room And Into Your Bath
While fans are waiting for more details about the next Xbox console or the online game streaming platform Project xCloud, Microsoft has been working behind the scenes to create a new Xbox product that works beyond the game room.
According to a report from GameSpot, Microsoft has partnered with Lynx to create a new fragrance called “Lynx Xbox.” This new fragrance collection, which includes a body spray, deodorant, and shower gel, is meant to give players the chance to “power up” before going somewhere, Xbox ANZ boss Tania Chee said.
Refreshing?
Although the new fragrance line might be seen as an attempt to convince players who spend all day in front of their screens playing to take a bath or at least try to smell good, Lynx Xbox is actually a serious product that needed some time and effort to develop. Here’s what the official description has to say about the fragrance line:
“Lynx Xbox is a fresh scent of pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood.”
“Containing a range of natural essential oils,” the description continued, “the Xbox Lynx range comes with a sleek new look and features a body spray, deodorant, and shower gel.”
These details obviously show that some dedication has been given to the new product, which will be made available at grocery stores and pharmacies across Australia and New Zealand starting on July.
While the idea that a gaming company has decided to announce a new fragrance line at a time when players are hoping to hear news about a new gaming console, platform or new titles might seem laughable, it’s not. Xbox creator Seamus Blackley himself isn’t amused by it.
In a tweet, Blackley said that he “seriously and honestly” has no comment about the new Lynx Xbox range, and has “no idea” what kind of comment should be given about it. “I’m frankly thinking of just going and drinking heavily at this point,” he said.
This announcement comes ahead of E3 2019. Stay tuned for updates on Microsoft and the Xbox.
