XFL 2020 Week 1 Lines: Point Spreads, Betting Odds For Saturday And Sunday Schedule
The betting odds for Week 1 of the 2020 XFL season are now available. Three home teams are favored on the four-game schedule, which will feature a pair of games on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
The Seattle Dragons are getting seven points against the DC Defenders in the league’s first matchup. Saturday’s second contest features the Houston Roughnecks laying 5.5 points against the Los Angeles Wildcats.
The Tampa Bay Vipers are the only road favorite in Week 1. The game between Tampa Bay and the New York Guardians is also the only contest with a point spread of less than a field goal.
The betting line in the Week 1 finale is the biggest on the schedule. The Dallas Renegades are laying more than seven points against the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Dallas is the favorite to win the XFL championship with +350 odds. New York (+400) is second, followed by Tampa Bay (+450) and DC (+500).
Betting on the XFL is a little different than wagering on NFL games because of the rules. Instead of a traditional extra point and two-point conversion, the XFL gives teams that just scored a touchdown three options.
XFL teams are not allowed to kick for an extra point following a touchdown. Teams can choose to run a play from the two-yard line (worth one point), five-yard line (worth two points) or 10-yard line (worth three points).
Overtime is different in the XFL. There are five “rounds,” during which each team is given a chance to reach the end zone from the five-yard line. The team with the most points after five rounds is the winner.
