Xiaomi Mi 5 Release Date Predicted, Will Arrive With Monstrous Specs Like Snapdragon 820, 4 GB RAM
Rumors are rife that Xiaomi Mi 5 is the upcoming flagship smartphone from the company. According to industry analyst, Pan Jiutang, the Xiaomi Mi 5 powered with Snapdragon 820 will be released in December 2015.
According to Phone Arena, Pan had predicted earlier this year that since the Snapdragon 820 will be made available to smartphone makers by December this year, handsets featuring the new chipset would be available next year by March. However, his revised forecast states that the Xiaomi Mi 5 release date will be set in December.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be coming out to replace the Xiaomi Mi 4 that was released in August 2014. In the previous month, the alleged handset was spotted on AnTuTu benchmark site with a high score of 73,075, Xiaomi Today reported. Since the purported Xiaomi Mi 5 has scored a top score on AnTuTu, speculations are rife that the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to arrive with a 5.2-inch display. It is expected to support a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Rumors have it that the company will be also launching a larger sibling of Xiaomi Mi 5 that will feature a bigger display that will support Quad HD resolution.
The larger flagship is currently being referred with different names like Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus and Xiaomi Mi Note 2. It is also expected to feature a better rear camera than the one that will be present on the Xiaomi Mi 5.
The Snapdragon 820 chipset that will power the Xiaomi Mi 5 will include a quad-core Kyro processor and an Adreno 530 graphics. The chipset will be supported by 4 GB of RAM.
The handset will be available in storage variants like 16 GB and 32 GB. The rear camera will be of 16-megapixel and the one on the front will be of 8-megapixel. It will also be featuring a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C connector. It will be shipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS onboard.
