Xiaomi Mi 5 Rumors: Leaked Photos In Black Show A Sleek Device With Fingerprint Scanner
The Snapdragon 820-powered Xiaomi Mi 5’s release date has reportedly been set for February. Meanwhile, a new set of live photos from China shows the brilliant exterior of the upcoming flagship.
Gadgetz Arena has picked up live Xiaomi Mi 5 photos uploaded by a Weibo user and this time around, the device is black in color. The handset looks super-sleek with a metal frame and has a physical home button.
As far as the rumored specifications go, the Mi 5 will apparently come with a 5.2-inch display, aided by 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution. It is worth noting that earlier rumors pointed to a QHD resolution.
Xiaomi will apparently release the handset as two variants. One of them will carry a 3 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of in-built storage space. The other model will feature a killer 4 GB of RAM configuration and 64 GB of native storage space.
When it comes to camera, rumor has it that a phenomenal 16-megapixel rear-facing sensor, along with a very-generous 13-megapixel front-facing snapper will be housed in the phone. From the software end, the handset will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, straight out of the box.
To keep the lights on for a longer period of time, Xiaomi will reportedly utilize a solid 3,600 mAh battery cell. As evident from the leaked images, the fingerprint sensor on the home button is quite small. Upon release, the Mi 5 will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature such an authentication mechanism.
Going by the past reports, the 32 GB model of the Xiaomi Mi 5 price has been set at 1,999 yuan ($303), while the 64 GB version will cost 2,299 yuan ($348).
However, readers are advised to take the reported Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications, release date with the proverbial pinch of salt as the company has not confirmed any information so far.
