Xiaomi Mi 5 Rumors: Several Live Photo Surface Showcasing Bezel-less Design, High Screen-to-Body Ratio

Before the release of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 tablet, several leaked photos of both the devices had surfaced. The arrival of Xiaomi Mi 5 seems all the more imminent as a new image showcasing a real life model has surfaced.

According to Mobi Picker, the alleged Xiaomi Mi 5 photo shows the handset with bezel-less design. An eclipse shaped physical Home button can be clearly seen below the display. Rumors suggest that it will house a fingerprint scanner.

A pair of speaker grilles can be seen on the bottom side of Xiaomi Mi 5. Between the speaker grilles, there is a USB Type C port. It is expected to arrive with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. However, by looking at the leaked photo, it can be seen that the Android OS has been customized by the company’s MIUI software.

The handset appears to sport a slim design and bears a resemblance to the Xiaomi Mi 4 handset. However, the authenticity of the photo has not been confirmed.

Rumors are indicating that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be featuring a 5.2-inch display. It will carry support for Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The Snapdragon 820 chipset will be powering the handset.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be arriving in storage variants of 32 GB and 64 GB. The 32 GB model will be coming with 3 GB of RAM whereas the 64 GB variant will be arriving with 4 GB of RAM. The rear camera of the handset will be of 21-megapixel. Its front-facing camera of 8-megapixel.

Speculations are rife that the Xiaomi MI 5 will be announced on Jan. 21. The rumor mill has also claimed that another variant of the handset called Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus will be also announced alongside the Mi 5. Both the handsets will be available for buying by February 2016.
