Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite Android One Phones Officially Announced
Xiaomi has announced two new Android One smartphones: the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite. Both models come with dual cameras and mid-range specs.
The Mi A2 is the direct successor to the Mi A1 from last year and improves on a lot of its hardware. The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ resolution display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and it’s covered in Gorilla Glass 5. The handset also features thinner bezels and metal unibody construction, which gives it the premium look and feel.
Inside, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 669 processor with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. It also has a 3,010mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology through the handset’s USB Type-C port. Unfortunately, the device doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the back, the Mi A2 comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and vertically-aligned dual cameras. One camera features a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.75 lens and another camera has a 20-megapixel sensor with the same f/1.75 lens. Up front, the handset comes with a 20-megapixel camera for taking selfies.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 seems like a very attractive phone and it also comes with an attractive price. The 4GB/32GB model will only cost €249 (around US$290) when it’s released first in Spain. The 4GB/64GB model will cost €279 (~US$325), while the 6GB/128GB model cost €349 (~$408), according to The Verge.
If users are looking for a more affordable Android One device, Xiaomi also has the Mi A2 Lite. Unlike the regular Mi A2, the A2 Lite comes with a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The device comes with a taller aspect ratio because this handset features a notch on top of its display. Like the regular A2, the A2 Lite features the same metal unibody design.
Inside, the Mi A2 Lite comes with the less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of onboard storage. The handset also features a larger 4,000mAh, which should be able to offer better battery life. The Mi A2 Lite still supports fast charging, but users will have to do it through microUSB instead of USB-C. The good thing about the absence of USB-C is that the A2 Lite has a headphone jack.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite also comes with dual cameras on its back, but the module is less impressive. The handset has 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors on its back, while up front it comes with a 5-megapixel camera. The device also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will be available for €179 (~$209) for the 3GB/32GB model, while the 4GB/64GB model will cost €229 (~267). Like the regular A2, the A2 Lite will be available in Spain first starting this month. Both the Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite will be available globally in 40 markets, but Xiaomi didn’t provide any information on that just yet, according to Android Authority.
