Xiaomi President Lin Bin teased earlier this week that they will announce another device on Sept. 11 alongside the Mi Mix 2. Now, he has confirmed that the other device is going to be the Xiaomi Mi Note 3.

The president of Xiaomi confirmed the announcement of the Mi Note 3 through Chinese social media site Weibo. Lin Bin also shared a teaser poster for the upcoming smartphone, but it only shows the Mi Note 3’s backside.

The poster suggests that the Mi Note 3 will be a larger variant of the Mi 6, Xiaomi’s other flagship smartphone from earlier this year. The Xiaomi Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch IPS LCD full HD 1080p display, while the Mi Note 3 is currently rumored to feature a 5.7-inch quad HD 1440p display.

The Mi Note 3 will likely adopt the standard 16:9 aspect ratio for its screen, while the Mi Mix 2 is expected to come with an 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the Mi Note 3 might feature a Super AMOLED display from Samsung, instead of having the same LCD found on the Mi 6.

The promo image for the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 also suggests that it will arrive with new camera features, according to Android Central. Although the poster only shows the back of the Mi Note 3, it strongly resembles the Mi 6 when it comes to the placement of the dual cameras. The dual shooters on the Mi Note 3 are expected to come with the same 12-megapixel sensors from the Mi 6. The new camera features might simply be on the software side of things rather than the hardware.

Since the Mi Note 3 looks a lot like the Mi 6 from the back, fans should expect the same metal and glass materials. The back of the Mi Note 3 also has the Xiaomi “Mi” logo and it looks like the back has curved edges. The fingerprint sensor is presumed to be up front since it can’t be seen on the device’s back.

No specs were given for the Mi Note 3, but it may simply have the same innards as the Mi 6. If this is true, then it should be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor along with an Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. It’s very likely that the device will run Android Nougat along with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 OS on top, according to Android Headlines.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 will be announced alongside the Mi Mix 2 on Sept. 11 in Beijing, China, just a day before Apple’s big iPhone 8/Edition announcement. Xiaomi may have chosen the date to slow down the hype behind the new iPhone and show off its new bezel-less Mi Mix 2.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun already revealed that the Mi Mix 2 has entered mass production, and he has also shared a photo of the device’s retail box. The original Mi Mix from last year is believed to be the device that triggered the ultra-thin bezel design trend that’s currently being adopted by other major smartphone manufacturers. With the Mi mix 2, it looks like Xiaomi wants to outdo itself as well as it rivals.
