‘Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Jack Makes A Decision About His Future
He had sworn off of his attempt to try and dig up Phillip’s grave to find out if he was his son, but following Kyle’s recent actions, Jack will be forced to reconsider how he plans to handle his future on the Tuesday, July 10 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”
After realizing how unfair it was to ask Dina (Marla Adams) to testify that she had an affair with Phillip years ago and that he was his father, Jack (Peter Bergman) called off his lawsuit to force the issue on the CBS soap. However, after Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) return to Jabot, Kyle (Michael Mealor) became even more frustrated than ever about the fact that he and Jack don’t seem to have great futures in family companies since they don’t truly know who they are. Drunk, he went to the Chancellor Estate and began digging up the grave himself. He was quickly arrested afterward and shocked Jack by showing him that he did find a bone in the grave, which he swiped and intends to do some DNA testing on.
Now, Jack will warn his son that they can’t do a test on the bone because it was obtained through illegal means, and he knows that Kyle’s actions will jeopardize their chances at getting DNA tests done legally through the remaining Chancellor heirs when they come back to town. He will also have to cool tensions when Cane (Daniel Goddard) arrives at the house to berate Kyle about what he’s done.
Cane’s visit will also drive home a major point for the two men. Kyle wants to prove he’s a Chancellor heir so he can find himself a more lucrative job in a family company since he feels he’ll never advance at Jabot because he is not a blood Abbott. However, Cane will remind them both that no matter what they do, and whether they find a way to get proof of their heritage legally or not, they will never have a chance to take over at Chancellor because of the way the company’s ownership passed following Katherine’s death. The news will be sobering for both men, as they realize that when it comes to financial gains, anything they’ve done to prove who they are will be for nothing.
However, after once again passing up an offer to return to Jabot, Jack will decide that there is a greater purpose in finding out who his father truly is. He will inform Kyle that they will, in fact, run a DNA test on the illegally obtained bone he found in the grave, but it won’t be for the sake of having access to any company at all. It will solely be about finally having a chance to move on with the assurance about who they are.
If the test proves to be successful, and they get the answers they seek, it will be up to them both what direction they take things going forward.
“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
