Kevin on "The Young and the Restless"
After learning a shocking secret, Kevin (Greg Rikaart) announces that he is leaving Genoa City on the June 7, 2017 episode of “The Young and the Restless.” CBS

He was prepared to say goodbye to the woman he loved, but now, after learning a shocking secret, Kevin will instead focus his goodbyes on everyone else in Genoa City on the Wednesday, June 7 episode of “The Young and the Restless.”

Kevin (Greg Rikaart) was devastated when Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) returned from Louisiana to tell him that Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) had died after overdosing on prescription medications in an apparent suicide. His anger over the situation came to a tense climax at her funeral on the CBS soap, after Chelsea and Nick (Joshua Morrow) showed up. After things calmed down and they left, Kevin asked for a moment alone with Chloe’s casket so he could say a proper goodbye. However, after making a heartfelt speech to her, he was left to faint when an arm suddenly reached up and pushed the casket open.

Now, he will get the shock of his life. Chloe will sit up and tell him to wake up, and will reveal to him that she is faking her own death, and it is something she worked out with Victor (Eric Braeden) to ensure that Chloe and Nick would stop looking for her. She will explain that it’s all a setup that she, Victor, and Dr. Harris are all in on, and she will soon escape the coffin and go back to living life incognito. She will urge him to join her before once again assuming the role of a woman who is believed to be dead.

Meanwhile, outside of the funeral home, Kevin’s loved ones will start to worry about what’s taking him so long with his private goodbye, specifically his mother, Gloria (Judith Chapman), who will have a hard time understanding how her son is spending such a long time speaking to a corpse.

“He wanted to say a private goodbye to Chloe,” his brother Michael (Christian LeBlanc) says in a preview clip.

“The woman is dead! How long could that possibly take?” Gloria will snap.

Kevin will then finally rejoin his loved ones, but he will shock them when he announces that in order to properly grieve, he will need to leave town, and that while he’s gone, he is leaving his daughter with Chloe, Bella, in Michael’s care. He will tell his loved ones he is leaving the country for some time to reflect and properly get over Chloe, and while they will all be saddened by the news, they will understand his need to leave. However, what they don’t realize is that Kevin may wind up not coming back, because while he is telling them that is what he’s up to, it will in fact be a ploy so he can join Chloe wherever she ends up, and they can try to live their lived together with no interference from those who want to get revenge on her for her crimes.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
