Young Ukrainian Woman Documenting Life In Bomb Shelter Goes Viral On TikTok [Video]
A young Ukrainian woman has gone viral on TikTok through her videos documenting life in an underground bomb shelter while the Russian military is ravaging her city.
The young Tiktoker, Valeria Shashenok from Chernihiv, a city in northern Ukraine, has garnered more than 300,000 followers to her account @Valerisssh after sharing videos of her bomb-shelled city, and her family's life inside the bunker, Nine.com.au reported.
In a video titled "My Typical Day In A Bomb Shelter," Shashenok shows how she coolly carries on with her routine activities like cooking, playing with her dog and drying her hair using a heat gun despite being in the bunker.
"Living my best life..Thanks, Russia!" she captioned the video that has fetched more than 22 million views since it was posted during the weekend.
In a separate video captioned "Welcome to my 5 stars hotel," Shashenok jokes about the little facility that she has in the bomb shelter and says she even has a jacuzzi, a place for reading books and a personal Michelin restaurant to herself.
Shashenok also tries to give her viewers a perspective of what "Putin has done to the city" in the videos that she captures while she steps out of the bunker to get things from her house. In one of her videos, she shows what shopping for groceries during the war looks like by showing empty supermarket shelves.
In another video, Shashenok could be seen pleading with NATO to close the sky while she shows a heartbreaking view of a destroyed residential building where the shelling reportedly killed around 40 civilians. "Putin said he won't kill civilians, but it's a lie," Shashenok says while she stands amid the ruins of destroyed apartments and cars.
Meanwhile, many viewers have come in support of Shashenok for giving a real picture of the conflict in Ukraine. Several others also appreciated her for keeping cool despite going through chaotic times. "Wow. Love your sense of humor during an unreal time," a viewer commented on her video. "Love how you are so positive about it," another said.
