‘Younger’ Star Dan Amboyer Comes Out As Gay: ‘I Stayed Quiet’
“Younger” actor Dan Amboyer just came out as a gay, and he’s now opening up about his struggles and relationship with financial planner Eric P. Berger.
In an interview with People, the 31-year-old actor revealed that a lot of people asked him to keep his sexuality a secret. “That was hard to live with. But I’ve never played a gay role before and I didn’t want to be limited by some strange perception,” he said.
Before finally coming out to his family, friends and fans, Amboyer admitted that it was such a hard decision to finally just do it and to do it in public. “There are some actors out there now who just keep it as an unspoken aspect of their life and never discuss it in public. But then there are men like Matt Bomer and Zachary Quinto. I look up to them and see how them being so open affected other people and the country’s perception of gay people,” he said.
Berger, 37, also revealed that he never forced his partner to come out publicly. “That was a decision he had to come to for himself,” he said. The couple met on an online dating app 10 years ago. They have been living together for the past nine years, and Berger thinks that it has worked out because they were exact opposites.
“Our crazies match. I think Dan is very different from the roles he gets to play. He’s a sweet quirky guy who loves animals and is creative and brings a different color to everything in my life. I hold that very valuable,” Berger gushed. Amboyer plays the role of twins Thad and Chad in TV Land’s “Younger.” He also recurred in “The Blacklist: Redemption” as Dan Pool.
When asked to described his partner, Amboyer said, “He’s serious and organized. He’s a financial planner, which is the opposite of my actor self. But we complement each other.”
Meanwhile, the adorable couple also talked about their engagement where the actor insisted that Berger will be the one to propose. Their special moment took place at the Overlook Mountain in February 2016.
