YouTube Star Mel Thompson Dies At 35; Cause Of Demise Remains Unknown

Makeup artist and YouTube star Mel Thompson died Sunday at age 35. Her husband announced her death in a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram on Monday, without disclosing the cause of her death.

“Mel sadly passed away yesterday,” wrote her husband using her Instagram account. “It’s really hard to just choose 10 photos. We lost a beautiful person. I just wanted to show the smiles she brought. I’ve had to answer so many texts of people just checking in on her without even knowing of her passing. It’s great to see how loved she was. And she loved all you right back,” he continued.

Thompson’s husband also revealed how she was a “pillar” of their family, always trying her best to be there for him and their children.

“The kids would talk to her nonstop and she was constantly talking with them and trying to help them with their stuff. And no matter how bad she felt, she would still rub my back when I came and jumped on the bed next to her while she was working tirelessly to put out content.”

He said that while people know her for her talent and knowledge as an artist, those close to her know how truly wonderful she was as a person.

“She would have done anything to help anyone without a second thought. I wish I had her back,” he wrote.

Thompson, who had at least 170,000 YouTube subscribers and 55,000 Instagram followers, was known for her makeup tutorials and product reviews. She uploaded her last YouTube video on Sept. 24.

As news of her passing made the rounds online, fans, fellow makeup artists and YouTube stars took to social media to pay tribute to Thompson. One of them was celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, who commented on the Instagram post and remembered Thompson for being a wonderful person.

“I’m so deeply saddened and shocked,” she wrote. “My thoughts are with friends and family… truly heartbreaking. Rest in peace Mel, thank you for always being so wonderful.”

Fellow YouTube star Nikkia Joy also took to Instagram to express her shock over Thompson’s sudden demise, saying, “I am in utter shock. This is the most heartbreaking news. I am so, so sorry for your loss, the world will not be the same without Mel.”
