Zack Snyder has teased that he might be bringing his version of “Justice League” onto the big screen really soon. However, he thinks that the movie has changed so much that it could be R-rated when it hits the theaters.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 54-year-old filmmaker opened up about the upcoming four-episode limited series and his plans of releasing it in cinema halls as well.

Snyder noted that the movie is so great that it will probably be R-rated if it comes out on the big screen. However, he admitted that he hasn’t heard from the Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA), an organization that rates movies according to content.

“Here's one piece of information nobody knows: The movie is insane and so epic and is probably rated R — that's one thing I think will happen, that it will be an R-rated version, for sure. We haven't heard from the MPAA, but that's my gut,” EW quoted Snyder, as saying.

When asked what makes the extra footage explicit, Snyder shared several reasons why he believes it would be R-rated.

“There's one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not too happy with what's going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind. And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. So [the rating would be due to] violence and profanity, probably both,” Snyder said.

Snyder’s comments come after Patty Jenkins recently revealed that all the directors in the DC Extended Universe “tossed” Whedon’s version out as much as fans did.

“I think that the ‘Justice League’ was kind of an outlier. They were trying to turn one thing into, kind of, another. And so then it becomes, ‘I don’t recognize half of these characters. I’m not sure what’s going on,” Jenkins told Cinema Blend.

Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), and Ezra Miller (The Flash) will be reprising their respective characters in the movie. On the other hand, Jared Leto’s version of Joker is also reported to make a comeback for the movie.

“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will make its way to HBO Max in 2021.
