Zidane Shares Good News Involving $113M Forward Ahead Of Real Madrid’s Gladbach Clash

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane hinted Eden Hazard, who is yet to make his first appearance this season, could be involved during their Champions League clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Tuesday.

Ever since Hazard moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 for a fee of $113 million, the Belgian forward has struggled with injuries. He played only 22 competitive matches last season, scoring once.

Ahead of the 2020-21 club season, Hazard suffered a setback when he got injured while on international duty.

During a press conference on the eve of Real Madrid’s Champions League match, Zidane said, "If Hazard is with us it is because he is well and that is good news. We are all happy to see him with us. Tomorrow we will see how we are going to use him. It is very positive news for us. We know that the season is long and we are going to need everyone. It is true, I have always said it, because they are players who always play. It is true that we have had problems on the wing, but there are other players who can replace them and it will not give us problems."

Even though Real Madrid are boosted after defeating arch-rivals FC Barcelona 3-1 at the latter’s backyard on Saturday, Zidane’s side cannot take Gladbach lightly, especially after losing their Champions League opening match.

Before beating Barcelona in the El Clasico, Real Madrid had lost two back-to-back matches – vs Cadiz in La Liga and vs Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League. Moreover, Gladbach have been undefeated across their past five matches, which included a 2-2 draw with Inter in their Champions League group opener game last week.

Following the two consecutive losses this season, there have been reports stating that Real Madrid could sack Zidane.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is tipped to replace Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu as the new head coach.

Despite the pressure, Zidane is focused on the next game.

"We want to continue what we did over the weekend, playing a good game for the full 90 minutes as a team. Every three days we play a difficult team, like tomorrow. If we use what we have inside us, give a strong performance for 90 minutes, we'll have chances to win. That's what we want to do tomorrow," added Zidane in the same press conference.
