  • Zidane failed to sign Pogba last summer
  • Pogba has been consistently linked with a move away from Man Utd

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reportedly has met Paul Pogba’s agent to discuss the midfielder’s possible move to Spain this summer.

Zidane is known to be an admirer of Pogba and it is understood that he came close to signing him at Real last summer.

Pogba has been consistently linked with a move away from Man Utd and earlier this year, his agent, Mino Raiola, had admitted that his client was open to returning to Juventus next season.

According to a report in Le10 Sport, the Serie A side’s interest in Pogba has forced Zidane to step up to ensure if Pogba does leave Old Trafford this summer, he must land at Santiago Bernabeu as the club does not want to miss signing the star midfielder for the second time in a row.

The report further said that since Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, does not share a great relationship with Pogba’s agent, that could become a hurdle in the signing and hence, Zidane has decided to take matters into his hands to seal the deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

Apart from Juventus and Real Madrid, Pogba is understood to be contemplating a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to team up with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar and if that happens, the French side can turn tables around in Europe in the coming months.

Man Utd boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, on the other hand, wants to field Pogba with their January signing, Bruno Fernandes, as he is looking to develop a team around these two talented midfielders.

While Fernandes has sealed a spot in the team almost immediately since his debut in January, Pogba has struggled to get games because of the number of injuries he sustained over the last year or so. The Frenchman, who still has a year left in his current contract, has scored 31 goals in as many as 141 appearances for the Red Devils across all tournaments since he began his second stint at the club in the 2016-17 season.
