- Several other stars rocked revealing looks at this year's Met Gala, including Kendall Jenner
Zoë Kravitz clapped back at a critic who criticized her choice of outfit for the 2021 Met Gala.
The "Mad Max: Fury Road" star, 31, showed up on the red carpet of the annual event Monday wearing a shimmering metal mesh dress from Saint Laurent that was made up of a series of interlocking YSL logos. It was completely see-through, revealing her barely-there bra and a thong blinged out with sparkling stones, Page Six reported.
While many of Kravitz's fans raved about the gown, some expressed disapproval over her look at this year's Met Gala.
"Where’s the dress?" one asked. "I don’t get why women feel it’s OK to walk around naked … take some damn pride in yourself," another wrote.
"I don't understand why they go practically naked. She's gorgeous. Why does she feel the need to wear a dress like this??" a third netizen commented on a photo of Kravitz flashing derrière on the red carpet, according to a screenshot from Instagram account Comments by Celebs.
The comment did not go unnoticed to the "Batman" actress, who clapped back at her critic in her response.
"Being uncomfortable with the human body is colonization/brainwashing. It’s just a body. We all got 'em," Kravitz replied.
It should be noted that revealing looks were a trend at the American-themed event, with Taraji P. Henson, Teyana Taylor and more stars dressed similarly. Kendall Jenner also donned a sparkly, transparent Givenchy dress inspired by Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady."
Another actress who recently made headlines for her see-through ensemble was Megan Fox, who attended the 2021 MTV VMAs wearing a sheer Mugler gown with red and crystal embellishments, a thong and a nude corset bra. The look drew comparisons to Rose McGowan's "naked" dress at the 1998 VMAs.
Fox told Entertainment Tonight that her stunning look was her boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly's suggestion.
"It's 50/50," Kelly said during the MTV pre-show of him and Fox taking turns with their looks when they attend red carpets together. "This one she took the lead and I get the pleasure of having her on my arm all night. She's beautiful."
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian stole the show at this year's Met Gala with her bizarre outfit. The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star arrived wearing a black Balenciaga bodysuit that covered her from head to toe, including her face.
The outfit received mixed responses, with some hating it and others claiming that it was on theme. "For someone who is always criticized for being overly sexual, Kim showed she can cover every square inch of skin and still find a way to be criticized and ridiculed. THAT is American culture," read a fan's tweet that Kardashian shared on her Instagram Story.
